The McCulley Group designed the
interior and exterior wayfinding, monument signage, theater
identification system, donor recognition system, space planning
and furniture selection for the La Jolla Playhouse site.
The site, located on the University of California, San Diego
campus, is composed of a new theater, an administrative
building, and a restaurant.
Using the La Jolla Playhouse-as-village concept, The McCulley
Group created a family of icons that works for theater identification.
A banner system provides wayfinding, theatre locations and
identity. The drama of place is accomplished through the
theatrical lighting of the buildings. La Jolla Playhouse
donors are recognized in the main courtyard between the
buildings with a walkway engraved with their names.
