design of the 73,000 sq. ft. Island Inn in San Diego defied
the traditional sterile image of a single residence hotel.
The brightly colored exteriors and simple, elegant interiors
won it kudos: "Ten Best Designs of 1992" in Time
Magazine. 1993 American Institute of Architects National
Honor, 1994 California Council, American Institute of Architects
Honor Award for Excellence in design.
